Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture? Traditional Acupuncture is thought to have originated in China over 3,000 years ago and is one of the oldest systems of healing in the world. It differs from the needling that is often done by physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors who generally do "dry needling" which focuses mainly only releasing tightness in muscles and reducing pain muskulot-skeletal pain.
It is thought that there are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, which are connected by channels called meridians. There meridians conduct energy (qi) throughout the body. The smooth flow of energy through the body is said to help regulate homeostasis and promote good health.
Traditional Acupuncture is beleived to encourage the optimal flow of qi, removing blockages and restoring health to the body, mind and emotions. It is a holistic treatment which seeks to understand and address the root cause of any imbalances or disease, as well as helping to resolve any symptoms.
